ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 3- SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND...OR A VENINI

Hey guys! Its officially the midway point of the challenge! Deep breaths, that's what I tell myself- deeeeep breaths. I had tons of plans this weekend to make the roman shades, finalize fabrics, move some stuff into place etc., and of course- I did nothing. Its a lot of work doing nothing. I mean, I had really important things to do- like binge on Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" (which I recommend to you all- especially if you've read the book). And hubby was out of commission, so I had nobody to boss around. Besides, its been a little hard to get into the spirit of things with the threat of nuclear war currently hovering above our heads, and the constant worry of wtf is going on in the world, but I digress. I've been trying to stay positive and focus on this challenge. So far, I have finalized the room plan- which will be board 2. YAY for neutrals! I went ahead and ordered the white cover and skirt from Pottery Barn, which will look pretty amazing with my favorite Schumacher Hollyhock and velvety leopard pillows. I want the bed frame to be the star, with all the other elements complementing it. Elements such as this gorgeous gilded tassel table with marble top- a table that BFF extraordinaire Raf (who also sells amazing vintage pieces like brass Lucite stools, sciolaris, swivels, burl, bar ware, all the good shit basically), on Chairish and Instagram, found for me on Craig's.

Its EXACTLY what I wanted and I absolutely fucking love it!! Team #Winning! I mean, its actually really hard to do this challenge in 6 weeks when you shop mostly vintage, and your big box store is Craigslist. Luckily, I'm in NYC- where there are millions of people with tons of shit to sell. Basically, you just kind of hope and pray and look all day, everyday for the pieces you want. Sometimes you get really lucky and you find them, other times you'll actually have to order from West Elm, Target, endless thrift stores or Chairish. Its totally unpredictable. Either way I'm thanking the Craigslist Gods it worked out! Also thanking the Craigslist Gods for the crazy good Veninis I scored. A few weeks ago I was trolling Craig's endlessly, hoping to find a large Venini chandelier for my bedroom-  and somehow stumbled upon a beautiful large Venini that came with 2 matching smaller flush mounts. It was such an amazing deal for really beautiful, quality pieces that I practically stole them. I ran out of there quick before the lady could change her mind.

I decided to use the big one in the guest room until we paint our bedroom- which will be sometime in late summer. I'm so in awe of this chandelier. I love it sooooo much! It sparkles like a MF. My husbands friend was nice enough to come over and put it up for us.

Here she is in all her glory.

Damn girl, you 555-fine. I sat and stared at it for a good 20 minutes like this:

I also already received the mattresses I ordered last week. Gotta love that Amazon Prime.

I decided to go with the Linen Spa Memory Foam and Hybrid whatever mattress. It had really good reviews and seemed to be the best option. My only concern is- the trundle under the bed does not stay locked down unless the mattress is on it. When we were putting it together it kept springing back up and wouldn't stay down. So I'm hoping this mattress is heavy enough that we wont have that problem, fingers crossed.  I'm just waiting on the cover and skirt to arrive from Pottery Barn so that I can get that bed situation together. Right now it still just has a sheet on it and a fur throw for my cat to lounge on. After that, I can see where the bed is going- if its staying where it is, or moving to the treadmill wall.

Here's my to do for next week:
Make those damn roman shades and hang them  Nancy, this is your tape
Install rug  FML
Re-dress bed
Move and place bed get somebody else to do it
Figure out where I'm putting everything else  wing it
Abstract colorful art or black and white photography?
Lamp- pick one  or buy one and hide it!
Get the mirror from storage and gold leaf it

Knowing myself as I do, I can guarantee I'll have maybe 1 or 2 of these things done. My husbands birthday is this weekend (already making excuses) and I still have to finish Friday Night Lights on Netflix too. Basically I'm gonna be really busy. But have any of you seen FNL? shit is addicting.
Till next week friends! wish me luck! and send me motivation to actually get shit done instead of netflix!

Nan

And don't forget to check out everyone Else's progress!
